Coomera Waters Marina is the quiet achiever of the northern Gold Coast's crowded marine scene: a 70-berth residential marina folded into the Coomera Waters estate off Harbour Village Parade, on the North Branch of the Coomera River. Where its famous neighbours upstream, GCCM and The Boat Works, revolve around travel lifts and refit sheds, this marina is about leaving your boat in the water, walking a few steps from car to pontoon and being out on the Broadwater within minutes. The estate itself is a master-planned harbour community built around a 17-hectare harbour connecting to the Gold Coast waterways, and the marina serves its residents first while welcoming casual and permanent outside berth holders. Its scale keeps the atmosphere personal; the operators market it on value, ease and an absence of big-marina congestion, and berths run from about 12 to 20 metres. The surrounding Marina Village gives it something many larger facilities lack: an IGA supermarket, cafes, a tavern, pharmacy and medical centre all within easy walking distance of the pontoons, so a day on the water can start with coffee at The Press Cafe and end with dinner at Enzo's without touching the car. Gated gangway access and 24-hour security patrols keep it private. Power and fresh water run to the berths, and wifi, showers, laundry and parking are provided, with parking close enough to the pontoons that loading the boat is a short trolley run rather than a logistical exercise. Security is a headline feature: the marina sits inside a gated estate with gangway gates and 24-hour patrols, which suits owners leaving boats unattended between weekends. There is no fuel berth, travel lift or hardstand on site; the arrangement assumes owners use the Coomera Marine Precinct a short run upstream, where GCCM's 24-hour fuel wharf, dry stack and shipyard and The Boat Works' lifts cover every lifting and repair need. What the marina does have immediately at hand is the Marina Village: The Press Cafe trading seven days, an IGA open 6am to 9pm, Enzo's Cucina, the Harbour Vue Tavern, a post office, pharmacy, medical centre and hairdresser, a genuine village main street at the top of the gangway. Booking is direct through the marina office, which advertises current availability for casuals and permanents. The marina lies on the Coomera River North Branch with unrestricted deep-water access downstream: no locks, no bridges between berth and Broadwater, and the Coomera River channel is dredged to about 3.5 metres at lowest astronomical tide, so even larger planing cruisers run it on any tide. From the river mouth it is minutes to the Gold Coast Broadwater; the Seaway at Southport gives ocean access, with the usual bar-crossing caution on an ebb against a south-easterly. North lies Jumpinpin and the sheltered channels behind North and South Stradbroke islands, with anchorages like Tipplers Passage made for weekenders. South, the whole Broadwater playground, Wave Break Island, the Spit and the Main Beach waterfront, is within easy reach. The Coomera Marine Precinct, the southern hemisphere's largest concentration of marine trades, sits upstream, which means antifouling, engine work and chandlery are ten minutes by water rather than a trailer trip. Weekends bring heavy traffic at the river mouth, and the sandbanks either side of the marked channel are unforgiving, so stay in the leads. Provisioning beyond the village IGA is easy at Westfield Coomera, a short drive away. The northern Gold Coast's population boom is filling the river with boats, but the estate's gated calm and the early-morning run downstream, coffee in hand, remain the rhythm that keeps berth holders here. Cyclone exposure is lower here than in North Queensland, but summer storm cells still arrive fast off the hinterland, and the river runs fresh and brown after heavy rain, carrying debris down to the Broadwater.
