Hervey Bay Sailing Club is a dinghy and catamaran club on the Charlton Esplanade at Torquay, on the Hervey Bay foreshore, roughly a three-and-a-half-hour drive north of Brisbane, and it should not be confused with the Hervey Bay Boat Club Yacht Squadron, another club entirely — a trailable and keelboat outfit at the Urangan marina. Formed in 1968, the club has grown from a tent pitched on the sand each Sunday into an organisation that, by its own account, enjoys a national reputation for race-management excellence — a claim its events resume supports. The club brought the inaugural Nacra Catamaran World Championship to town in 1990–91, and in November 2018 ran the A-Class World Championship alongside the inaugural A-Class Classic World Championship. Its signature event, the annual Bay to Bay Trailable Yacht Race, is described by the club as Queensland's largest trailable yacht race and by Invicta Racing as one of Australia's three biggest trailable passage races.
