Multihull Yacht Club Queensland does exactly what its name promises: it is the Brisbane home for sailors who reckon two hulls — or three — will always beat one. The claim rests on real substance: the modern club was formed in 2001 by amalgamating south-east Queensland's various multihull groups, whose roots reach back to 1965, when a dozen multihull owners first organised to race their own Brisbane to Gladstone. It remains a totally voluntary organisation, dependent on active member contribution rather than paid staff, and is affiliated with Australian Sailing.
