About The Quays Marina
The Quays Marine Centre sits at 1856 Pittwater Road, Church Point, looking straight across the water at Scotland Island, and it has long positioned itself as the full-service counterweight to the club marinas further up Pittwater. This is a private, commercially run marina where everything is leased rather than member-controlled, and the atmosphere reflects that: a working fuel wharf, a busy tender pontoon, marine trades in the sheds behind and a waterside cafe watching over it all. The current configuration is around 110 berths and 69 moorings, and the operator has signalled growth, with a proposed new Arm C of about 40 berths put forward in 2025 to meet demand for Pittwater berthing. The marina is also a small boating precinct in its own right. Pacific Boating, the membership-based cruiser fleet operator, is based here, boat sales and a boating club operate from the site, and the Marina Cafe serves breakfast and lunch seven days with dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, so the foreshore hums from early morning. Its southern-Pittwater location, at the McCarrs Creek end of Church Point's waterfront strip, puts it in deep, protected water with the national park at its back and the whole of Broken Bay in front. Where nearby marinas lean on exclusivity or club tradition, The Quays trades on convenience: you can berth, moor, fuel, clean, repair, rebuild, polish, paint or slip a boat without leaving the property, which is exactly how the operator describes the offer. For visiting boats it is one of the easier places on the waterway to organise casual berthing, and for locals it functions as the default service hub for the southern arm of Pittwater.
Marina facilities
Berthing covers vessels from 16 to 70 feet on permanent or casual terms across the floating berths, with power and fresh water at the berth, and the 69 moorings are backed by a seven-day tender service that runs on demand during marina hours, 8am to 4.30pm weekdays and to 5pm on weekends and public holidays, with dinghies available for after-hours use. The fuel wharf is the busiest on this end of Pittwater: diesel and unleaded are sold seven days a week, the wharf takes vessels to 80 feet, and volume discounts are available by prior arrangement with marina management. Next to the fuel berth is a pump-out facility, one of only a handful in the Pittwater area, available by contacting the office. Bottled gas, both new bottles and Swap & Go, crushed and block ice, and engine oils are all sold at the fuel wharf. Amenities include toilets and showers open 24 hours, trolleys for moving gear around the marina, and a security regime that combines a surveillance system with guard patrols between sunset and sunrise. The distinguishing service is Q Service, the marina's in-house one-stop repair and maintenance operation with its own phone line. The pitch is deliberately broad: anything you want done to your boat, from transport to fabrication, the team will do or source, covering mechanical, electrical, detailing, antifoul coordination and fit-out work through in-house staff and partner trades. Add the Marina Cafe for catering and casual dining, on-site boat sales, and the Pacific Boating fleet for those who want boating without ownership, and the service web is unusually complete for a marina of this size. Local sailing knowledge
The Quays shares the same effortless approach as the rest of Church Point: deep water from the Pittwater entrance right to the fuel wharf, no bridges or bars, and shelter from most quarters inside the McCarrs Creek bight. Skippers should watch for the Scotland Island ferry traffic crossing the bay and for the mooring fields that thicken toward the marina; on busy summer weekends the tender lane is lively. The location is arguably the best jumping-off point on Pittwater for the western foreshore anchorages: Elvina Bay, Lovett Bay and Morning Bay are a short motor away, McCarrs Creek's national park moorings start almost behind the marina, and Coasters Retreat with its kiosk and The Basin's sheltered swimming beach are easy half-day trips. For ocean passages, Barrenjoey Head and the open Tasman are twenty minutes from the berth, putting Port Stephens or Sydney Harbour within comfortable day runs. Winter westerlies deserve respect: cold-air drainage off the Ku-ring-gai escarpment can send sharp gusts across southern Pittwater overnight, and berth-holders tend to double up lines when a strong westerly is forecast. Ashore, the immediate needs are covered by the Marina Cafe on site and the Church Point shops and cafes a short walk along Pittwater Road; the Pasadena Sydney, the area's landmark waterfront dining room, is close by, and Newport's supermarkets are a few minutes by car. The Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park starts directly behind the waterfront strip, with walking tracks up to West Head and its lookouts. Road access from Sydney is via Mona Vale Road, around 45 minutes from the CBD in clear traffic, and marina customers get on-site parking. The clientele is a mix of long-term Pittwater locals, visiting cruising boats doing the Broken Bay circuit, and Pacific Boating members heading out for the weekend, which keeps the wharf atmosphere practical rather than precious.
