Dragon boats at dawn, dinghies before lunch, radio-controlled yachts between races, and a Friday sundowner to finish the week — Yarrawonga Yacht Club runs more lines of activity than many clubs three times its apparent size. Based on the Victorian shore of Lake Mulwala, the big Murray River storage on the New South Wales boundary, this family-focused volunteer organisation dates from September 1938 and has evolved into a genuine all-round watersports hub. Its sailing arm fields catamarans, monohull dinghies and trailable yachts; alongside it operate dragon boat crews, outrigger canoeists, paddlers in kayaks and on paddleboards, and a competitive radio-controlled sailing fraternity. Saturday is the anchor day, with club sailing and dragon boat sessions back to back, while the warmer months add dragon boat training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Off the water, the Friday evening Happy Hour with its sunset aspect over the lake functions as the club's social glue. The administration is thoroughly modern: members are governed by a published Strategic Plan spanning 2025 to 2028, formal child safe standards and an incorporated structure with recorded life members.
