Jervoise Bay Sailing ClubCoogee, WAWhen the Formula 18 World Championship came to Fremantle in the summer of 2026, it did not go to one of the big keelboat clubs on the Swan River. It went to a catamaran stronghold at Coogee, on the northern side of Woodman Point, where Jervoise Bay Sailing Club has spent nearly five decades perfecting the art of two-hulled racing. The regatta ran from 24 January to 3 February, immediately after the club hosted the F18 Australian National Championship as a pre-Worlds tune-up, and the entry list told a story about local boatbuilding: Nacra Evolutions made up a third of the international fleet while Windrush Edges accounted for almost a quarter, the Windrush factory sitting practically next door to the venue. That a club of this size can shoulder a world championship surprises nobody in Western Australian multihull circles. Jervoise Bay had already hosted the Tornado World Championship in 1991/92, the 39th NACRA Nationals and the F18 Nationals in 2018, the Wing Foil Nationals in January 2024, and the Waxit Golden Grand Prix alongside the WA Nacra State Championship in November 2025.
